Instructions Boil chicken (whole or pieces) until done (about 1 1/2 hours). (Boil means to simmer over low heat with lid on pan.) Remove chicken. Season liquid with butter, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and a dash of paprika. Mix Bisquick according to directions for dumplings or use biscuits (each pinched into 2-3 pieces). Bring liquid to rolling boil, drop dumplings one at at time. Boil 10 minutes without the lid. And then, 10 minutes with the lid on. Add milk. Add cornstarch mixed with water for thickening if desired. (There will be some thickening from the dumplings.) My add: Remove chicken from bones and add back. Add more pepper. Note from Larea: I am totally guessing on the milk that you pour in. The Bisquick instructions are 2/3 cup milk plus 2 cups Bisquick. I usually use double. And that's still not enough. Also, I usually use a package of drumsticks because I like them. Use whatever kind of chicken you like.
